IT'S TIME FOR YOUR CLOSEUP!!

WHETHER IT'S FOR A MODELING PORTFOLIO, PERFORMING ARTIST OR JUST FOR FUN THE BELOW GUIDE is for you.

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

First things first, you must know what you want and what the end goal of this type of session will be. Is this for modelling purposes? actor/actress? Or just for fun? Take the time in advance to consider what kind of feeling you are trying to capture in your images. Don't worry if you are not exactly certain about this, that is what I am here for! As the photographer I can help you figure this out, but if you can come in with your own ideas that will help!

YOUR ATTIRE

The next most important thing is your attire. You should come up with at least 2 outfits for your session that you feel comfortable in and that reflect your personality. Headshots mainly focus on the shoulder area and up so the shirt you wear is crucial. However, we will also get some full body shots so do bring one or two options for pants, but focus more on bringing a range of different tops. If it's an outdoor shoot, consider your surroundings and the weather conditions. Prep an outfit that reflects those surroundings. MOST IMPORTANTLY, BE COMFORTABLE AND BE YOURSELF!

HAIRSTYLE

Choose a hairstyle at least 2 weeks in advance. A neutral style that highlights the natural curve and shape of your face is always the best choice for headshots & portraits. A hairstyle you usually wear because it is reflecting you and not someone you are trying to be.

THOSE PEARLY WHITES

Avoid anything that may stain your teeth on the day of your photographs. If you are not a teeth smiler----no problem! The photographs will still turn out lovely. However, if your teeth are noticeably stained, invest in having them professionally cleaned and whitened, but don't worry if you don't have the time or money, we can easily get the same result with a little bit of editing magic.

PEACE OF MIND

Prepare, prepare, prepare! I cannot stress this enough! Write down or record all the details for your portrait/headshot photo session and add them to your clothing bag and what you will be bringing with you the day of the shoot: Helpful information to include would be time, location, directions, and any instructions provided. Be sure you have my contact phone number saved in your phone in case you will be running late or if an emergency should arise resulting in a cancellation.

DO NOT RUSH

For many, having their photograph taken is a stressful event, but don't worry lovely just breathe I am here to help. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the location of the photoshoot. It all goes back to preparing yourself for the photoshoot, it's important that we go at a comfortable pace and not feel rushed during our shoot.

COMMUNICATION

COMMUNICATE with me before your session. You should definitely feel that I care about you and you're not just another client. Be sure to write down and ask me any questions you have, it is my job to put you at ease. On the day of the photoshoot make sure you are in text message communication with me, that way I can help you if you're having any trouble finding the location or for anything else that comes up. This is your photoshoot, it should be a special event where you feel supported throughout the process and great communication is key.
